Dr. Elaine Weinman grew up in New York City where she attended the Bronx High School of Science and then received her B.A. from Hunter College. Subsequently, she became a teacher and taught a diverse population of students in the New York and Baltimore public elementary schools.
After moving to New Jersey, Dr. Weinman earned a Master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Personnel and Guidance and then went on to receive a second Master’s degree and a Doctorate degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Clinical Psychology. She was an academic advisor, instructor, and therapist at Montclair State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University where she helped students select fields of study, choose
appropriate coursework, determine their interests, aptitudes, and vocational goals, handle learning difficulties, and cope with emotional issues. Her many years working in education and counseling have helped her acquire knowledge and experience to help patients with problems related to ADHD, learning disabilities, vocational choice, deficient study skills, and academic anxiety problems.
Dr. Weinman has assisted parents by accompanying them to meetings with child-study teams and worked with teachers to help initiate classroom strategies to use with students who have academic or behavioral challenges.
Before starting to work in a private practice, Dr. Weinman worked in various departments at Holy Name Hospital. These departments included Behavioral Health, Pain Management, the Pediatric Unit, and the Cancer Center where she worked individually or in groups with patients who had chronic psychiatric disorders or needed supportive therapy in an effort to cope with major health issues.
At present, her time is devoted to working with patients as a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice. She has attended and presented at professional workshops in the United States and abroad as well as publishing articles in College and University and the College Student Journal. Dr. Weinman is a member of the New Jersey Psychological Association and the Morris County Psychological Association.
